Bridgeport, CT - The Bridgeport Bluefish shutout the Long Island Ducks, 5-0, in front of 2,274 fans on Friday Fireworks Night at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
The Bluefish took the lead in the bottom of the second as Michael Coleman hit his second homerun in as many games well over the left field wall to put the 'Fish up 1-0.
The 'Fish offense continued in the third inning as Tino Sanchez scored from third during a Long Island double play. A single to left center by Jamie Gann in the bottom of the fourth extended the Bluefish lead to two runs as Michael Coleman scored from second base. Two more runs scored in the bottom of the fifth as Rolo Avila began the inning with a solo homerun over the left field wall, and Corey Hart later scored on a double by Michael Coleman after reaching on a double of his own, to make the score 5-0.
Bluefish starter Brady Raggio went six innings four hits while walking two and striking out six. Reliever Angel Miranda pitched two scoreless innings for the 'Fish. T.J. Mathews made his debut for the 'Fish in the ninth. Ducks starter Lance Davis pitched 5.0 innings while giving up five earned runs on ten hits while walking one and striking out six.
