Trenton Thunder News Release
The Thunder, presented by NJM Insurance, are pleased to announce in conjunction with the Eastern League that right-hander Brian Keller has been named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending for August 4th. Erie's Isaac Paredes was named the Eastern League Player of the Week after he hit .522 and drove in five runs.
Keller earned his second career Eastern League Pitcher of the Week award after he threw the sixth no-hitter in the Thunder's franchise history on Thursday night against Altoona. The right-hander from Germantown, Wisconsin allowed only one baserunner, a second inning walk, and needed just 70 pitches to complete the seven-inning no-hitter. It was the eighth no-hitter thrown in the Eastern League this season, one shy of the league record set in 1967.
One season after being named the team's Smith's Ace Hardware Pitcher of the Year, Keller has gone 3-1 with a 2.32 ERA and held opponents to a .197 batting average against in seven starts with the Thunder.
The award marks the third Pitcher of the Week award won by a Thunder pitcher with Deivi Garcia earning the award for the week ending June 24th and Rony Garcia for the week ending July 14th.
