Brett, Hounds Fill out USL Team of the Week

PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC highlighted the Week 21 edition of USL Team of the Week, with forward Neco Brett earning Player of the Week honors, defender Hugh Roberts landing on the XI and goalkeeper Dan Lynd slotting in on the bench.

Brett's honor marks the second time he's earned Player of the Week status and the third time overall he's made Team of the Week. The Robert Morris product is coming off scoring three combined goals - two game-winners - in victories over the Richmond Kickers and Toronto FC II this past week. Brett upped his season total to 11, putting him one off the pace for the Golden Boot, and has scored in back-to-back games on three separate occasions this year.

For Roberts, he earned Team of the Week honors for a second time this year, anchoring the backline to two clean-sheet efforts. Roberts led the team with nine clearances between the two matches and won 21-of-25 duels, while also recording five tackles and five interceptions. The Maryland native leads the team with 74 clearances on the year across 17 appearances (12 starts).

In addition to the honors for Brett and Roberts, Lynd nabbed bench honors after upping his league-leading shutout total to 11 games. The former University of Pittsburgh keeper broke the club single-season shutout record on Wednesday against Richmond before coming up large on Saturday against Toronto with two game-saving saves in the latter part of the second half. Lynd currently leads for the USL Golden Glove with a 0.56 goals-against-average.

The weekly honors for the Hounds make it 12 times a Hound has been named to USL Team of the Week and the 11th week in general.

Pittsburgh looks to build on its two-game win streak, jumping back into action on Sunday, Aug. 12 at Bethlehem Steel FC. Set to kick off at 5 p.m., fans are welcome to stop down at Smokin' Joe's Saloon on South Side for an official watch party, including drink and food specials, and can also watch the match live on ESPN+.
