OTTAWA - Part 1. Saturday June 16, after a lengthy weather delay at Coolray Field pushed the start of the match to past 10 p.m. instead of the scheduled 7 p.m. kickoff, Ottawa Fury FC saw Atlanta take an early lead after a cross by Andrew Carleton was deflected past Crépeau. Not long after, Fury FC's midfield pushed ahead on the counter-attack and following a crafty dribbling run, Kevin Oliveira's bottom corner shot slid in behind Hildebrandt, levelling the score within the opening 10 minutes. As the rain started again, Fury FC established their pressure and created a number of chances in ATL UTD 2 half. It was however Mother Nature that took control, sending the teams back to their respective locker rooms with less than a minute to play in the first half. They would not go back out and the match was officially suspended.

Part 2. Some 52 days later, both teams were finally set to finish what they had started, this time on the pitch of Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, GA.
After an odd end to the first half, starting with a goal kick, and a short break, Fury FC begun the second half on the front foot. Right in the 47th minute, Kevin Oliveira picked it up where he had left it, sending a curling shot towards the top right corner of the Atlanta net, but the ball sailed just over the bar.
Midway through the half, speedy Adonijah Reid charged down the left wing, getting past Atlanta's defense with a threatening run, but no one was on the spot to pick up his cross in the box. Fury FC orchestrated a few similar runs off their counter-attack in the subsequent minutes, building promising chances, but none could find the frame.
With minutes running out, Reid split the defense once more to fire off a shot on goal, only to see it hit the post. That would be Reid's last attempt on the night as he was replaced by Haber on the following play.
As Fury FC were finding their rhythm, the final whistle blew on this match, and teams went their way with nothing more to show than their original 1-1 scoreline. Ottawa would continue their road trip with the same eagerness they came to Atlanta with, raring to go face Nashville and continue their ascension in the Eastern Conference standings.
POST-GAME COMMENTS
Head Coach Nikola Popovic
On the team's mindset going in... "The team is confident. They were compact and very organized. But it's difficult in a game like this, that's why they are normally 90 minutes. This was the second half, but it started like a first half. Sometimes teams need a little bit more to come into the rhythm, and create chances to score, so the draw stays and it ended 1-1."
"We had good chances, I think we had about three chances that we were very close to score a goal, and they caused us problems only by set plays, so I think it is difficult to judge only on the one half, however what they [the players] did, they showed the strength to win the 45 minutes but the fact is that we weren't able to finish the chances that we created and the game stayed 1-1. We have to be ready and win the points in the next game."
