Mohegan Wolves News Release
NEW LONDON, C.T. (June 7th, 2002)- The Mohegan Wolves have lost one of their top receivers for at least two weeks. WR/DB Brent Burnside has been placed on short-term injured reserve due to a broken hand.
Brent broke his hand late in the fourth quarter last week versus New Haven and will be lost for a minimum of two weeks. He posted huge numbers versus the Ninjas by grabbing 8 passes for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns last week in the Wolves defeat.
Brent Burnside's 2002 Statistics Games Rec. Yards Avg. TD Rush Yards Tck. Int. Sack 9 43 544 12.7 8 7 32 16.5 2 ½ In last week's game Brent also went over the 100-reception mark for his af2 career. He has 107 career af2 receptions, for 1,315 yards and 27 touchdowns.
Brent's injury means that Andy Macaione will see more playing time as will rookie David Bradford, who hails from the University of New Haven.
"Hopefully once Brent gets used to the cast, he'll be able to play some defense for us, but right now we'll just have to wait and see. The injuries have hurt us all year, and this one in particular really puts a lot of pressure on our group of receivers. Andy (Macaione) will see more minutes, and we expect big things from him," added Wolves Head Coach Gary Porter.
The Wolves host the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Pioneers tonight at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Mohegan Sun Box office by calling (860) 862-8000 or by going to www.tickets.com or call 800-477-6849. For further information contact the Mohegan Wolves offices at (860) 443-1900.
