Roanoke Steam News Release
Greenville - Sean Peterson came off the bench to throw three touchdown passes, and the Steam defense intercepted two Carolina passes in the endzone, as Roanoke defeated the Rhinos 45-14.
Roanoke, in their first victory since May 11 versus Norfolk, put constant pressure on the Carolina offense, forcing QB Ramone Robinson into several bad passes and scrambling situations. Robinson finished 11-of-32 on the night, with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Roanoke also recorded a safety against the Rhinos signalcaller in the second quarter.
The Steam, who moved to 5-5 on the campaign with the victory, were led in receiving by OS Kenan McWhorter with 6 catches for 78 yards. WR/LB Tacoma Fontaine pulled in four catches for 48 yards and one touchdown. Fontaine also added a rushing score in the second quarter.
Roanoke will be in action next week at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, AL, where they will take on the Tennessee Valley Vipers.
