Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

For the second straight season, Brayden Yager is taking home a Western Hockey League award.

On Thursday, Yager was named the recipient of the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy as the WHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player for the 2022-23 season.

The Saskatoon product is the fourth player in Moose Jaw Warriors' history to win the award, joining Justin Almeida in 2018-19, Jason Bast in 2009-10 and Blair Atcheynum in 1988-89.

During the 2022-23 season, Yager posted a career-high 78 points to go along with a career-low 14 penalty minutes in 67 games.

Yager now has 69 goals and 155 points in 154 games during his WHL career and is expected to be a first round selection in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Previously, he won the WHL and CHL Rookie of the Year awards for his record-setting season in 2021-22.

Yager will now be a nominee for the CHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player award, presented during the Memorial Cup week in Kamloops, B.C. later this month.
