The Winnipeg ICE, in conjunction with the Western Hockey League, are pleased to announce the opening two games of the WHL Championship Series presented by Nutrien will be played at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena on the campus of the University of Manitoba:
Game #1 - Friday, May 12, 7:00pm CT
Game #2 - Saturday, May 13, 6:00pm CT

Coming off a record setting 68 game regular season schedule with a 57-10-1 record and 115 points, the ICE advanced to the WHL Championship Series last night with a 3-2 victory over the Saskatoon Blades to claim the Eastern Conference Championship series 4-0. They opened the post season with a 4-0 series victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers, then eliminated the Moose Jaw Warriors four games to two.
To date in the 2023 WHL playoffs, forward Matthew Savoie's 27 points currently has him tied for the league lead with Logan Stankoven of Kamloops. Forward Connor McClennon leads all goal scorers with 13 while defenceman Ben Zloty has a league high 20 assists. Between the pipes, goaltender Daniel Hauser leads all netminders with 12 wins.
Winnipeg will host the winner of the Western Conference Championship Series between the Kamloops Blazers and Seattle Thunderbirds. Seattle currently leads the best of seven series 2-1 with Game Four set for tonight in Kamloops.
