RICHMOND, VA-Mike Hessman had two hits and drove in three runs as the Richmond Braves knocked off the Indianapolis Indians 4-1 at The Diamond Thursday.
Hessman rallied the Braves from a 1-0 deficit in the fifth inning with a three-run double to left off Indians' starter Francisco Campos (1-3). He later singled and scored a run in the eighth on a Damon Hollins' safety to left field.
Chris Fussell (3-1) held the Indians to one run over 6.2 innings to notch his third win of the season. The Richmond right-hander held Indianapolis to two hits before giving way to the bullpen in the seventh. Travis Phelps, Bobby Jones, and Joe Dawley closed the book with 2.1 hitless frames of relief. Dawley recorded his team- best fourth save on the night as Richmond won for the fifth consecutive time.
The Braves and Indians meet again Friday at The Diamond in a 7:00 p.m. first pitch. The radio broadcast can be heard on WXGI AM 950 beginning at 6:45 p.m.
