
Braves Race Past Hot Rods

Rome, GA -The Rome Braves defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods 10-3 in front of 2,230 fans at State Mutual Stadium Sunday afternoon. Zeke Spruill earns his fourth win of the season.
The Braves scored two runs in the third inning to take the 2-0 lead on an RBI double by Ryan Barba, who later came around to score on an RBI single by Luis Sumoza. In the fourth, the Braves added another score on a solo homerun by Samuel Sime to give them the 3-0 advantage. Bowling Green cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth on a two RBI triple by Tim Beckham. In the bottom of the inning, Jesus Sucre scored on a sacrifice fly by Barba to make it a 4-2 game. The Hot Rods scored inched closer in the sixth on a Mike McCormick RBI single making the score 4-3.
Rome scored six runs in the eighth to break their lead wide open. The first run of the inning came on an RBI single by Sucre, followed by a throwing error by Tim Beckham that scored two. Barba contributed an RBI single, and later came around to score on a Joel Campusano RBI single. Finally, Sumoza's RBI triple scored Campusano for the 10-3 final.
Zeke Spruill (4-0) gets the win for the Braves while Shane Dyer (0-2) was the losing pitcher for the Hot Rods.
