Braves Clinch Series with Friday Win

Jacksonville, Fla. - With early run support behind him, Ryne Reynoso allowed a run over seven and two-thirds innings leading the Mississippi Braves (16-18) to a 6-1, series-deciding victory over the Jacksonville Suns (18-17) in front of 10,278 Friday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Reynoso (2-2) allowed one run in the eighth inning with a total of four hits over seven and two-thirds innings. The Braves right-hander worked in his longest outing of 2009, dealing 103 pitches.

Suns starter Aaron Thompson (1-5) allowed six runs, two earned, over four and one-thirds innings in the loss.

Mississippi opened the scoring in the first inning when Matt Young came in on an error by shortstop Chris de la Cruz for a 1-0 lead. The Braves added two runs in the third inning on back-to-back RBI singles from J.C. Boscan and Kala Ka'aihue for a 3-0 advantage.

In the fourth inning, Brandon Hicks came in to score on another de la Cruz error, opening a 4-0 lead. An error and bases loaded walk in the fifth inning drove in two more runs to open a 6-0 Mississippi lead.

Jacksonville's lone run came in the eighth inning on a groundball from Andy Jenkins for a 6-1 score.
