
Braves Capture First Win of 2006

Mississippi Braves News Release
For the third night in a row, Huntsville took an early 2-0 lead. In the top of the second, Ozzie Chavez reached on an error and pitcher Corey Thurman reached on a fielder's choice. Callix Crabbe then doubled down the right field line bringing both runners to the plate for the Huntsville lead.
After four innings without a hit, and minimal hits through the first two innings, the Braves offense came to life in the fifth. Dax Norris and Matt Esquivel led off the inning with singles. Carl Loadenthal then doubled down the right field line bringing Norris to the plate.
Esquivel scored on Josh Arteaga's ground out to third and Loadenthal scored on pinch hitter Onil Joseph's single to center. Gregor Blanco then reached on a fielder's choice and they both scored on Martin Prado's double to right giving Mississippi its first lead of the year, 5-2.
The Braves added another run in the sixth when Jarrod Saltalamacchia led off the inning with a walk. He later scored on a sacrifice fly by Josh Arteaga giving the Braves a 6-2 lead.
Bryan Digby (1.0 IP, 3 BB, 1 K) got the win for the Braves. He's now 1-0 on the season.
Mike Myers (0.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER) was saddled with the loss for Huntsville. He falls to 0-1.
The Braves and Stars face off again tomorrow at 1:05.
