Mudcats Shut Out BayBears 4-0

MOBILE, AL- A three-run top of the ninth inning led the Carolina Mudcats to a 4-0 win over the BayBears Friday night. Mobile left seven runners on base, and had just three hits off the Mudcats pitching staff. The BayBears are now 2-1, Carolina won their first game this year, advancing to 1-2.
James Russ (1-0) shut down the BayBears for five innings, not allowing a run and striking out four. Jose Oyervidez (0-1) pitched 5.2 innings and didn?t allow an earned run, but still took his first loss of the season. Lee Mitchell, Jose Campusano, Ryan Bear and Rex Rundgren all had two hits for Carolina.
The series continues Sunday at Hank Aaron Stadium at 2:00. Two lefties will square off, with Sean Thompson pitching for Mobile and Paul Mildren on the mound for Carolina. All BayBears games can be heard on 1480 AM WABB, Comcast Cable Channel 59, and on the internet via mobilebaybears.com.
