DANVILLE – The D-Braves (41-25) blanked the Johnson City Cardinals (33-35) 5-0 on the final day of the regular season at Legion Field.

The 1,138 in attendance on Fan Appreciation Night watched the Braves complete a three-game sweep of the Cardinals. Danville outscored Johnson City 29-4 in the series.

Four Braves' pitchers combined to hold the Cardinals' offense to two hits on the evening. Starting pitcher Jairo Cuevas, who was called up from the Gulf Coast League on August 26, pitched four innings, allowing only one hit. Lefthander Bryan Johnson entered the game in the fifth and picked up the win, allowing one hit in three scoreless innings. Jason Paul and Brady Endl each pitched one inning of shutout ball.

Left fielder Mark Jurich continued his torrid hitting with a solo home run in the sixth inning, his team-high 16th of the season. Jurich is batting .421 with four home runs and 17 RBI over the last ten games.

The D-Braves will host Game One of the Appalachian League Championship Series against the West Division Champion Greeneville Astros tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at Legion Field.

BRAVES BEAT: Braves left fielder Mark Jurich was named the Appalachian League Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season...Jurich batted .500 with three home runs, 14 RBI and nine runs scored during the week...The Braves set a new team-record for wins this season with 41. Danville's previous season high was 38 wins, which the team reached in both 1993 and 1999.
