Worcester Bravehearts News Release
LEOMINSTER, Mass. - The Bravehearts (29-13) lost their second game of the week in Leominster on Friday night, falling to the Dirt Dawgs (16-25) by a final score of 7-1. Worcester was only able to record one hit against a pair of Wachusett pitchers. The Bravehearts jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning, thanks to a double by Matt Diesel (Felican/Massapequa Park, NY), but that would be their only hit and run scored all game.
Andrew Barnes (Franklin Pierce/Rochester, NH), the Dirt Dawgs' starter, settled down and went on to pitch seven innings with five strikeouts and two walks in addition to the lone hit and run allowed in the second inning. Worcester's starter, Frankie Moscatiello (Saint Thomas Aquinas/Rocky Point, NY), kept Wachusett off of the scoreboard until he exited the game with two innings pitched, having allowed two hits with a strikeout and three walks. Kevin Stone (Harvard/Stamford, CT) then entered the game in relief, but had a difficult outing; conceding five runs, even though three of them were unearned. Stone received the loss after he threw four complete innings with two earned runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts. For Wachusett, Austin Young (UMass-Lowell/Millbury, MA) had a nice day offensively. He had one hit in two at-bats and added two runs on top of a RBI and a walk. The Worcester Bravehearts' next game is on Saturday, July 23rd as they play the Brockton Rox in Worcester at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for all future Bravehearts home games are available at the Hanover Insurance Park box office, online at worcesterbravehearts.com, or by calling 508-438- 3773.
