Worcester Bravehearts News Release

NASHUA, N.H. - The Worcester Bravehearts came about as close as possible from mounting a four-run comeback but fell a bit short with a 4-3 loss to the Nashua Silver Knights on Wednesday, July 29 at Holman Stadium in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Trailing 4-3 in the 9th inning, the Bravehearts loaded the bases with two outs, but Nashua reliever Justin Snyder (Bryant / Georgetown) got the final out to record his sixth save of the year. Shortstop Gavin Tristan (Lamar / Richmond, Texas) grounded out to end the game.

Nashua took an early 3-0 lead in the third thanks to three RBI base hits. After an RBI double by shortstop Max Burt (Northeastern / North Andover) and an RBI single by designated hitter Erik Ostberg (Hartford / Springfield), left fielder Ryan Sullivan smacked an RBI double of his own.

First baseman Matthew O'Herron (Franklin Pierce / Springfield) helped add a key insurance run, as he recorded an RBI double of his own to give his team a 4-0 lead.

All four Nashua runs were charged to Worcester starter Joe Caico (New Haven / Hopedale) who took the loss after going three innings and surrendering nine hits. However, pitcher Clayton Dostal helped stop the bleeding, as he tossed five shutout innings in relief and gave up just one hit, while striking out four and walking none.

Worcester launched a rally in the 7th inning by scoring three runs off Silver Knights starter Ryan Mahoney (UMass / Londonderry, New Hampshire), who held on for the win after going 6.2 innings with three runs on four hits and five strikeouts.

Third baseman Mike Coggeshall (Assumption / Shrewsbury) broke the shutout with a 2RBI triple and in the next at-bat scored on an RBI single by left fielder Charlie Ameer (Cochise / Weston, Connecticut).

The Worcester Bravehearts will face the FCBL West-leading Bristol Blues at 7 p.m. Thursday night, July 30 on Muzzy Field in Bristol, Connecticut. Tickets for all future Bravehearts games are available at the Hanover Insurance Field box office, online at worcesterbravehearts.com, or by calling 508-438-3773.
