Danville, IL - 20 year old rookie Brandon Yeamans split time last season between the Mississauga Chargers (OJHL) and the Danville Dashers. Since 2015 Brandon has primarily played in the OJHL with the Chargers but has played in a handful of games for the Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL.

Marcus Grasenick, Director of Communications and Voice of the Dashers had the opportunity to talk with Brandon about the upcoming season, what experiences he brought back with him to Canada after playing with Danville and more.

Marcus: Brandon great start to the season for you with the Chargers, 10 points in the first 6 games. What things did you work on in the offseason to get yourself ready for the year?

Brandon: I worked on my speed, put on some size (weight) and getting off a quicker release. Playing some games down in Danville last year really helped me develop my game immensely.

Marcus: You lead me right into my next question. What aspects of playing in the FHL and Danville have you brought back with you to the Chargers?

Brandon: Playing with men who were a lot older taught me how to compete every night and never take a shift off. Also just having guys in the dressing room who've played at higher levels that I hope to reach someday, helped me learn a lot just by watching their work ethic, leadership and little things that come with experience.

Marcus: What are some goals for you this season both on the team level and personally?

Brandon: A championship is obviously the ideal goal but as for personally. I'm hoping to have at least 30 goals and no less than 50 points.

Marcus: Over the last few seasons you have gotten some playing time in the OHL with the Mississauga Steelheads. What is it like playing in that league in which every year we see kids get drafted into the NHL?

Brandon: It was great. The talent level is very high in that league and there are many NHL prospects that I would match up against every night.

Marcus: Thanks for the time and good luck this season!

Brandon: Thanks Marcus

Brandon and the Chargers will be back in action this weekend as the Chargers take on the Lindsay Muskies tomorrow night and will visit the North York Rangers on Saturday.

The Dashers open the season on Oct 26th as they take on the Elmira Enforcers.
