The WHEAT KINGS close out a grueling 7-game in eleven day western road swing tonight when they take on the BRONCOS in SWIFT CURRENT.Winners of one of six games (1-3-2) on this trip, the WHEAT KINGS are coming off last night's 5-5 overtime tie before 8,000 fans at the Pengrowth Saddledome in CALGARY.All three defeats on this trip have been by one goal.RYAN GETZLAF'S second goal of the game with just over two minutes remaining lifted the HITMEN into the tie while LANCE MONYCH and ERIC FEHR scored two goals each for the WHEAT KINGS, who led 5-3 through forty minutes of play.Former CALGARY HITMEN MARK SHEFCHYK also scored for the WHEATS, who were outshot 44-27 on the night.BRANDONS only win on the trip was a dramatic 3-2 victory over DEAN CLARK'S KAMLOOPS BLAZERS on Tuesday night. Center RYAN STONE netted the game winner in that one, scoring a shorthanded marker with less than five minutes remaining in regulation time.BRANDON enters tonight's game with a record of 7-6-2-1, good for seventeen points and second place in the Western Hockey League's Eastern Division - eight back of the first place SASKATOON BLADES.BRANDON has been outshot 228-150 and outscored 18-16 through the first six games of this trip.BRANDON is currently 4-2-0-1 at home; 3-4-2 on the road; 1-2-1 vs. Central Division clubs and 0-0-2-1 in overtime this season.BRANDON has 24 players on it's active roster - two goalkeepers, seven defenceman and 15 forwards.

STONE IS PLAYER OF THE MONTH: PITTSBURGH PENGUINS' second round draft choice RYAN STONE has been chosen the JACK FRASER WHEAT KING Player of the Month for September / October.STONE managed to score at least a point in ten of 13 games last month and is currently leading the Western Hockey League in scoring with twelve goals and 27 points in sixteen games.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Entering tonight's game, BRANDON'S powerplay is working at a 22.8% clip (21-92), good for second place in the WHL, behind KELOWNA and MEDICINE HAT.ERIC FEHR currently leads the WHL with nine powerplay markers.Penalty killing, the WHEATS are dead last at 77%.RYAN STONE leads the WHL with three shorthanded tallies.

VS. SWIFT CURRENT: This is the second meeting of the season between these two clubs.SWIFT CURRENT was a 3-2 overtime winner at the Keystone Centre on October 9th.RYAN STONE scored both BRANDON goals in that game.During the 2003-04 campaign, the WHEATS posted a 3-2-1 record against SWIFT CURRENT.

MILESTONES: Right-winger ERIC FEHR'S goal on Wednesday night in Cranbrook was the 100th of his four year WHL career. He's also moved to within twelve points of 200.16-year old defenceman MIKE CANN, the club's first choice in the 2003 WHL Bantam draft, collected his first point - an assist, in Wednesday's loss to the ICE.MARK SHEFCHYK is four games shy of 200 in his WHL career.

WHOSE BEEN HOT? Goalkeepers MIKE NICHOL and TYLER PLANTE have been solid during the west coast trip, having stopped 210 of 228 opposition shots which translates to a sparkling .921 save percentage.PLANTE'S 2.76 goals against average is second only to RYAN CYR of the COUGARS among WHL rookies.RYAN STONE has points in thirteen of 16 games this season.ERIC FEHR has goals in four straight games and his 14 goals on the season are second only to RYAN KELLER of the SASKATOON BLADES.Captain TIM KONSORADA is 4-14-18 in 16 games while defenceman STEVEN LATER is tied for ninth place in scoring among WHL defenceman with eleven points, including three assists Friday night in CALGARY.

BRANDON BITS: WHEAT KINGS and MANITOBA BLUE CROSS has announced plans to honour the winningest coach in CIAU basketball, former BU BOBCATS' bench boss JERRY HEMMINGS during the Friday, Nov. 12th game against the visiting TRI-CITY AMERICANS at the Keystone Centre.BRANDON is 3-5-2 in it's last ten games.Since being reassigned to the WHL by the PHOENIX COYOTES, LANCE MONYCH is 3-3-6 in eight games.18-year old blueliner STEPHANE LENOSKI is currently leading the club with an impressive +7 ranking.
