The WHEAT KINGS will be out to make it two wins in a row tonight when they continue their 7-game in eleven night western excursion in Cranbrook against the KOOTENAY ICE.After going 6-3-0-1 through their first ten games of the regular season, the WHEATS have gone 1-2-1 on this trip, snapping a 3-game (0-2-1) winless streak Tuesday night with a dramatic 3-2 victory over the BLAZERS in KAMLOOPS.Center RYAN STONE'S second goal of the game - shorthanded - with just over five minutes remaining in the third period proved to be the difference as the WHEAT KINGS regained sole possession of second place in the Western Hockey League's Eastern Division with a record of 7-5-1-1.ERIC FEHR also scored for the WHEAT KINGS, who were outshot for the fourth straight game.Rookie netminder TYLER PLANTE was solid in turning aside 34 BLAZER shots.The WHEAT KINGS have been outshot 158-97 during the first four games.BRANDON is currently 4-2-0-1 at home; 3-3-1 on the road; 2-2-1 vs. Western Conference clubs and 0-0-1-1 in overtime this season.BRANDON is currently two points up on the third place REGINA PATS, who defeated PRINCE ALBERT 3-1 Tuesday night.After opening this trip with a 4-4 overtime tie in PRINCE GEORGE, the WHEATS dropped back to back 2-1 decisions over the weekend - in VANCOUVER and KELOWNA.BRANDON currently has 24 players on it's active roster.Tuesday's win in KAMLOOPS was BRANDONS first victory in a Western Conference arena in two years. The WHEATS defeated the ROCKETS 3-1 in KELOWNA on November 2nd, 2002.

STONE IS PLAYER OF THE MONTH: PITTSBURGH PENGUINS' second round draft choice RYAN STONE has been chosen the JACK FRASER WHEAT KING Player of the Month for September / October.STONE managed to score at least a point in ten of 13 games last month and is currently among the league leaders with 12 goals and 24 points.STONE also earned honorable mention for the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month, which was awarded Tuesday afternoon to MEDICINE HAT goalkeeper KEVIN NASTIUK.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Entering tonight's game, BRANDON'S powerplay is working at a 23% clip, having scored seventeen goals on 79 opportunities, good for third place in the WHL.ERIC FEHR is currently second in the league with seven powerplay markers.Penalty killing, the WHEATS are ranked 19th at 77%. RYAN STONE leads the WHL with three shorthanded tallies.

VS. KOOTENAY: The WHEAT KINGS will be out to complete a sweep of their 2-game regular season series with the ICE tonight.BRANDON won the season opener - 4-3 - at the Keystone Centre ten days ago when COREY COURCHENE netted the game winner late in the third period of play.During last year's seasons series, the two teams split the two games.ERIC FEHR led BRANDON in scoring with a goal and four points.

MILESTONES: Right-winger ERIC FEHR'S goal in KAMLOOPS last night was his 99th of his WHL career.Rookie defenceman DARYL BOYLE picked up his first WHL point - an assist - during Wednesday's tie vs. PRINCE GEORGE.Captain TIM KONSORADA recently played in his 250th career WHL game.

WHOSE BEEN HOT? Goalkeepers MIKE NICHOL and TYLER PLANTE have been solid during the west coast trip, having stopped 148 of 158 opposition shots which translates to a sparkling .938 save percentage.In two games, NICHOL has stopped 79 of 85 shots while PLANTE'S 2.55 goals against average currently leads all freshmen goaltenders.RYAN STONE has points in eleven of 14 games this season.Both STONE and ERIC FEHR are among the league leaders with 12 goals each.

BRANDON BITS: In the past week, the WHEAT KINGS have welcomed LANCE MONYCH back from the IDAHO STEELHEADS, they've reassigned 16-year old forward MORGAN MACLEAN and traded overage defenceman ANDRE BLANCHETTE to the PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS.17-year old rookie RYAN REAVES is the son of former WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBER all star running back WILLARD REAVES while netminder TYLER PLANTE'S father CAM currently holds the WHL record for most assists in a single season - by a defenceman - with 118, set during the '83-84 campaign.BRANDON plays in CALGARY on Friday night.
