
Brahmas Rebound with 6-2 Win over Mavericks

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Fort Worth Brahmas (13-10-4) rebounded with a convincing 6-2 victory over the Missouri Mavericks at the Fort Worth Convention Center behind a four-goal first period.
The Brahmas scored three goals in the matter of 57 seconds early in the first period. Chad Woollard scored the Brahmas first two goals at 4:16 and 4:50, respectively. For Woollard, the Brahmas franchise leader in goals and points, the two score give him seven on the season. Daniel Spivak fired a wrister by Missouri netminder Austin Lee at 5:13, giving Fort Worth a 3-0 lead and ending Lee's night early. Adam Hogg added the Brahmas' fourth first-period goal at 15:24 as he found himself behind the defense and put the puck past the Mavericks' second goaltender of the night Mike Clemente.
Podge Turnbull score the first Missouri goal at 7:41 of the second period, cutting the Brahmas' lead to 4-1. Just two minutes later, Sy Nutkevitch was taken down from behind as he streaked towards the net and was awarded a penalty shot. Nutkevitch converted, notching his sixth goal of the season.
Kenton Miller added the Mavericks' second goal at 1:29 of the third period, but Fort Worth netminder Brad Fogal shut the door from then on. Hogg scored an empty-net goal with 49 seconds to play in regulation. For Hogg, it was his second of the night and eighth of the season.
Fogal stopped 37 of 29 shots between the posts for the Brahmas, earning his seventh win of the season. Lee made only four saves on seven shots before being replaced by Clemente. Clemente stopped nine of 12 over the final 51:43.
Both teams came up empty on the powerplay. The Brahmas were 0-for-3 with the man advantage while the Mavericks were 0-for-6.
For Forth Worth, Saturday night's win extends the team's point streak at home to 10 games. The Brahmas are now 10-1-4 at home this season and 3-0-0 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Fort Worth is back in action Wednesday, December 26 when the team travels to Tulsa to face off against the Oilers. The Brahmas are back at home when they host the Allen Americans Friday, December 28 at the NYTEX Sports Centre. The game is set for 7:30pm.
