Lone Star Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - In a week with a packed schedule, the Brahmas played a Wednesday game against the Shreveport Mudbugs, had Thanksgiving off, then came right back to play the Corpus Christi on Friday and Saturday.
With a shootout loss on Wednesday, a win on Friday, and a loss on Saturday, the Brahmas took three of six possible points on the week. They sit second in NAHL South Division standings.
WEDNESDAY (2-1 SO LOSS)
As is often the case with the Brahmas and Mudbugs, Wednesday's game was a tight, low-scoring affair. Michal Stinil was the Brahmas' only goal-scorer in regulation, finding twine on the power play for his eighth goal of the season.
The Mudbugs were able to tie the game late in the third period with an Andrew Jackson goal.
There was no scoring in the five-minute 3-on-3 overtime, so the teams went to the shootout. The Mudbugs' Jay Feiwell was the only skater to convert for the 2-1 Shreveport win.
FRIDAY (3-2 WIN)
On the Brahmas' Teddy Bear Toss night, Blake Evennou didn't leave the rambunctious crowd any time to worry about when the first goal would come. Evennou scored on the power play less than seven minutes into the first, sending stuffed animals flying to the ice and giving the Brahmas an early lead
Later in the period, Michal Stinil converted on another power play to make it 2-0 Brahmas. Matt Guerra picked up the primary assist, passing the puck cross-ice through four penalty killers' sticks.
Stinil stayed red-hot and added another goal in the second period -his tenth overall on the season- for the Brahmas' 3-0 lead, their largest of the weekend.
Corpus Christi went on to score twice in the third period, with former Brahma Jack Sampson tallying the second goal, but the Brahmas hung on for the 3-2 victory.
SATURDAY (3-2 LOSS)
Corpus Christi effectively flipped the script on the Brahmas in Saturday's game. A power play goal in the first period by Santeri Hartikainen gave the IceRays an early lead that they never relinquished.
Corpus Christi forward Jake Stella added two goals of his own, including the eventual game-winner.
The Brahmas did make a late offensive push, with third period goals by Andrew DeCarlo and Scott Persson, but ultimately fell short and took a 3-2 loss.
Saturday's loss was the Brahmas first regulation loss in the month of November.
UP NEXT
The Brahmas have a stretch of seven straight games on the road, beginning with this weekend's trip out west to Odessa.
