Brahmas lose in tight Game Five

Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - A tight defensive game was in the cards for Game Five between the Texas Brahmas and Odessa Jackalopes where the Jacks just edged the Brahmas 2-1 to lead the best of seven series 3-2.

It was a scoreless game for the first two periods, but not without great chances as Texas outshot Odessa 25-21. A disallowed goal by the Brahmas in the middle frame kept the game tied at a 0-0 score with the ruling of the puck not crossing the line.

Daylight came in the form of a faceoff win and quick wrister by Sebastien Thinel for the Odessa lead at the 5:32 mark in third period. The Jacks later took advantage of a powerplay for their second goal of the evening on Texas netminder Joe Palmer who appeared in his first postseason start Saturday evening.

A relentless Texas team refused to give up when a deflection from a pass by Ross Rouleau to Tyler Skworchinski put Texas within one with 13 seconds remaining in Game Five. But time was a luxury the Brahmas had as they dropped Game Five 2-1. Palmer stopped 35 shots in the game.

The Brahmas host Game Six in a do-or-die situation on Monday at the NYTEX Sports Centre for a 7:05 PM faceoff. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
