Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (October 31)- The Texas Brahmas found their own little 'treat' in Wichita with a 3-2 victory over the Thunder Halloween night. Though there was not candy for the Brahmas at the end of the game, the win was just as sweet as they improved their record to 4-1.
Within the first minute, Wichita's Kyle Bruce and Texas' enforcer Robin Big Snake had the fans out of their seats as they squared off, each receiving a five minute major. At the 16:29 mark, Thunder's player Tyler Liebel took advantage of a power play, as he gave his team an early lead.
Before the horn could sound in the first, Brahmas Anders Strome answered back with a power play goal of his own from Scott Sheppard and Blair Manning.
Defense played a key role in the second period as Brahmas' goalie David Cacciola and Thunder's goalie Jon Horrell put on an impressive show, stopping a combined 17 shots. It took until the 2:20 mark in the second for the offense to come alive as Brahmas' defenseman, Kevin McLeod snuck one by Horrell.
Wichita came into the third with desperation, and Thunder's player Travis Clayton caught Brahmas' goalie Cacciola off-guard as he tied the game, 2-2. The Brahmas put a quick end to the Thunder's celebration as forward Greg McConnell started the Halloween party early for Wildfong and gang when he scored his second goal of the season.
David Cacciola stopped 25 shots as he earned the number two star for the evening. Brahmas' game hero, Greg McConnell, earned the number one star.
The Brahmas return home for a match against the Austin Ice Bats Friday, November 2, at 7:05 at the NYTEX Sports Centre. The first 2,000 fans will receive 2007-08 Texas Brahmas magnet schedules. Ticket information can be found on www.brahmas.com or by contacting the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423.
