Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

MOLINE, Illinois - The Brahmas were defeated by the Quad City Mallards by the score of 5-2 in game four of the opening-round, best-of-seven postseason series Friday night, due in large part to Quad City's four-goal first period. Fort Worth failed to eliminate the Mallards after winning the first three games by a combined score of 10-5, extending the series to a fifth game Saturday, April 6 at the i wireless Center in Moline.

Mickey Lang - who led the Mallards in scoring during the regular season and leads the team in goals in the postseason - found the back of the net twice in the opening period. The Reno, Nevada native scored his first goal at 4:01 after stealing the puck in the Brahmas' zone. Lang added a power-play score at 10:52, the team's first goal on the man advantage this postseason.

Shayne Toporowski and Anthony Perdicaro also scored in the first period. Perdicaro's goal was also on the power play.

Matt Boyd added the team's fifth goal at 7:57 of the second period.

The Brahmas scored twice in the third period. Adam Hogg put home a rebound in front of the net at 10:41 to get Fort Worth on the board. For Hogg, the score was his first of the postseason.

With just 14 seconds remaining in regulation, John Snowden added the team's second goal with the Brahmas on a 5-on-3 power-play and the extra attacker on the ice.

Fort Worth struggled on special teams, going 1-for-9 on the man advantage and allowing two power-play scores on six penalty-kill situations. The Brahmas led all CHL playoff teams in both categories entering Friday's contest.

Kristofer Westblom made eight saves on 11 shots before being replaced midway through the first period. The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native took the loss, falling to 3-1 in the postseason. In relief, Brad Fogal stopped 33 of 35 shots in 48:18 between the posts for Fort Worth.

John Murray earned his first win of the playoffs, making 37 saves on 39 shots faced in net for Quad City.

With the game-four loss, the Brahmas' lead in the best-of-seven series is cut to 3-1 with game five set for Saturday, April 6 at the i Wireless Center.

Games six and seven would be played at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills should the series extend beyond five games. The entire series schedule is as follows:
