Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (January 20)- The Brahmas ended their three game weekend with a 2-1 record as they dethroned the Mississippi RiverKings on the road Sunday 3-1.

The night started out in the Brahmas favor as they were able to get one of their top offensive threats, Scott Sheppard back in the lineup after being out since December 8. Enforcer Chris Mann was also back after serving a four game suspension from the league.

Early in the first Texas' Anders Strome added another goal to his team leading 17 goals when he put a puck past RiverKings netminder Jeff Van Nynatten. Forward Grant Jacobsen padded the Brahmas lead in the opening period with a feed from All-Star defenseman Justin Kinnunen.

Special teams defined the second and third as the Brahmas penalty kill went eight for eight and Brahmas goaltender David Cacciola was back in net and in impressive form rejecting 37 of 38 shots in the game. Forward Jordan Cameron capped the night off with an empty net goal to put Texas up 3-1. David Cacciola earned first star of the night honors and improved the Brahmas record to 17-16-1.

The Brahmas will play another three game series this weekend starting in Austin Friday, Oklahoma City Saturday and returning home for a Sunday afternoon game at 3:05 PM against the Corpus Christi Rayz at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
