Brahmas Boys Beat Back Bulls
December 7, 2013 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Lone Star Brahmas News Release
The day was marred by iced over roads and, technical difficulties, and power outages throughout North Texas keeping many fans and staff at home. It's a bit early for Christmas, but on the night of December 6, 2013, the Lone Star Brahmas gave the fans who braved the elements an early Christmas present.
The visiting Amarillo Bulls were absolutely stunned as our pestiferous Lone Star Brahmas handed them a whooping they shan't quickly forget. The Bulls were dealt only their 7th loss all season by a score of 4 to 1, in this Battle of the Cattle. The Brahmas charge was lead by one Matt Lison. His #21 "C" adorned sweater flapped in the wind as he rang up the Bulls for, what I believe, is his first hat trick. However, it wasn't JUST a hat trick, ladies and gentleman. It was what is referred to as, a natural hat trick. This is exceptionally rare. The reason being, that a natural hat trick can only be accomplished when said player is the ONLY one to score the three goals. There can't be any goals by the other team. There can't be any goals from your teammates. You are the only one to score the three goals. Now, Lison wasn't the only player to light the lamp, he got help from Kellen Wasell.
Wasell was in perfect position to pick up an errant rebound off the extraordinary Colin Delia of the Amarillo Bulls. Shortly after Wasell started the scoring on his power play chance, the Bulls jumped in and got their only goal of the game. Cody Gylling, was able to tip one by the incredibly tough T.J. Black. Black was just short of perfect tonight as he saved 25 of 26 shots. He kept the Brahmas in it, and earned these boys a very deserved win.
Tune in tonight for the second game of this series at www.fasthockey.com, or if you can come and join us at the NYTEX Sports Centre. Puck drops at 7:30 P.M. Tonight is also the Brahmas annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal. The toys will be collected and donated to the Community Enrichment Center in NRH. We hope to see you there, and go Brahmas!
