Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

The Fort Worth Brahmas top forward line of Chad Woollard (2G/1A), Martin Paquet (2G/1A), and Bryan Lundbohm (3A) combined for nine points to lead the Brahmas to an easy 6-2 win over the Corpus Christi Rayz in CHL action Friday night at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

After Corpus Christi forward Derrick McIver scored the first goal of the game on a deflection at the 8:22 mark of the first period, the Brahmas came back with five unanswered goals. Woollard scored his seventh of the season, and his third powerplay goal of the year, when he hammered in the rebound of a Martin Paquet shot at the 18:14 mark of the first. Then, just 2:12 into the second period, Brahmas power forward Brian Bansner scored his second of the season on a nice give-and -go play with Nick Udovicic.

With the lead, the Brahmas continued to attack. Woollard scored his second of the game off of a beautiful centering pass from Jan Jas at the 11:45 mark of the second to put Fort Worth up 3-1.

In the third period, Paquet would sandwich his two goals (numbers five and six on the season) around a Derrell Upton goal for Fort Worth. The Rayz also got a goal off of the stick of Jason Baird, but it was too little too late for Corpus Christi.

Dan Murphy stopped 22 of the 24 Rayz shots he faced to get the win in net for Fort Worth. Josh Blackburn was the losing goaltender for Corpus Christi, as he allowed the six Brahmas goals on 36 shots.

The win improved Fort Worth's record to 4-2-1 on the season and gives the Brahmas nine points on the season. Fort Worth is now in second place in the Northeast Division, but the Brahmas have games in hand on the two teams ahead of them in the standings, Bossier-Shreveport and Memphis.

Fort Worth will continue their busy weekend tomorrow night (Sat. Nov. 13) with a game at the FWCC against the Memphis RiverKings. It will be Montgomery Technology Puck Night, as the first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a free Brahmas puck courtesy of Montgomery Technology. Face off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m. For additional information, please contact the Brahmas office at (817) 336-4423.
