South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
Archie Bradley struck out nine batters en route to his team-leading eleventh win as the South Bend Silver Hawks (64-61, 29-26) defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods 6-3 at Bowling Green Ballpark. The Silver Hawks are just one game out in the eastern division wild card chase.
Bradley (11-5) is the first Silver Hawk to win 11 games since Ryan Cook finished 11-11 in 2009. The nine strikeouts is the second most he has amassed in a game this season. The right-hander turned in six innings and allowed just four hits.
The Silver Hawks jumped out to a 6-0 lead after four innings. Trevor Shull (5-7) took the loss for Bowling Green, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits over 2.1 innings before leaving due to an apparent injury.
The Silver Hawks capitalized on four Bowling Green errors in the first four innings, including a pair of throwing errors from third baseman Tyler Goeddel.
Chris Ellison paced the Silver Hawks, finishing 3-for-5. Ryan Court was 2-for-4 with a walk and a pair of runs scored. Kerry Jenkins was 1-for-4 with a two-RBI single in the fourth inning.
Right-hander J.R. Bradley tossed two scoreless innings out of the Silver Hawks bullpen. Jake Barrett worked the ninth inning and allowed three earned runs on three hits.
The Silver Hawks have won five of their last six games against the Hot Rods and have a chance at a four-game sweep on Tuesday.
The Silver Hawks and Hot Rods play the final game of a four-game series tomorrow at Bowling Green Ballpark. Right-hander Tyler Green (4-6, 3.72) starts for South Bend and he will be opposed by right-hander Parker Markel (9-5, 3.84). First pitch is slated for 7:35 p.m. EST. The Silver Hawks return home this Saturday to take on the Hot Rods. Tickets are available for purchase by calling 235-9988 or online at www.silverhawks.com .
