Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, Texas - Behind seven shutout innings from starter Cody Bradford, the Frisco RoughRiders shut out the San Antonio Missions in a 7-0 victory at Riders Field Friday night. The shutout victory is the second of the week for Frisco and the club's 10th of the season.
Picking up his second consecutive win, Bradford (8-6) struck out nine batters and walked none in his seven innings. Bradford's seven innings stood as his most of the season and ties his career-high mark set on August 18th, 2021 against the Arkansas Travelers.
Frisco shortstop Luisangel Acuna led the way offensively with a 3-for-5 night and three runs driven in, falling a home run shy of the cycle. The Rangers No. 9 prospect tripled and doubled in the 3rd and 5th innings for his three RBIs.
Frisco posted a pair of runs in the bottom of the 3rd on Acuna's first hit of the night, a two-run triple with two outs to give the Riders a 2-0 lead. Frisco stretched their lead in the next inning on an RBI double from left fielder Jax Biggers to make it 3-0 in the 4th.
Leading 3-0 into the 5th, Frisco posted four runs in the inning, beginning with an RBI double from Acuna to give the Riders a 4-0 lead. With two outs in the 5th, Frisco rattled off three consecutive hits, beginning with an RBI single from David Garcia. After Jax Biggers singled, right fielder Josh Stowers doubled with the bases loaded to extend the Riders lead to 7-0 lead.
After Bradford departed with seven scoreless innings, relievers Joe Corbett and Triston Polley finished the effort with two innings of scoreless work and three strikeouts.
Frisco and San Antonio continue their six-game series Saturday night with a 7:05 p.m. start at Riders Field. San Antonio RHP Nolan Watson (3-4, 5.08 ERA) makes his 12th start of the season, while Frisco's starter is yet to be determined.
