Brad Keller Named California League Pitcher of The Week

VISALIA, CA - The Visalia Rawhide announce today that RHP Brad Keller has been honored as the California League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 18th - July 25th.
Keller, the #11 prospect in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization according to MLB.com made two starts over the week and earned wins against both Bakersfield and Stockton to go 2-0. Over 12.2 innings pitched he allowed nine hits and one run while walking two and striking out 13, good for an ERA of 0.71 and a .191 batting average against.
The former 8th round draft choice from Flowery Branch High School has been a stalwart in the Rawhide rotation this season having never missed a start. He's made 19 and leads the ball club in both games started and innings pitched. Over his 116.2 innings pitched, which is good for third in the California League, he's allowed 59 runs (54 earned) on 120 hits and 11 home runs. He's walked only 23 hitters while striking out a team leading 84. He ranks second in the league in BB/9.0 innings pitched with a ratio of the just 1.78.
The 20-year old, 6-5, 230-pound right handed hurler is in his fourth professional season and has a career mark of 29 wins and 22 losses after beginning his professional career with the Arizona League Diamondbacks in 2013. In 392.0 professional innings he's allowed 180 runs (146 earned) on 388 hits for an ERA of 3.35. He's issued 118 walks while striking out 316 and 24 times he's given up a home run while holding opposing hitters to a .262 batting average against in 75 appearances and 69 starts.
The weekly honor marks Keller's first professional award and he becomes the third member of the Rawhide this season to be named a California League Player of the Week (1B/DH Rudy Flores - May 2nd - May 8th, IF Dawel Lugo - June 27th - July 3rd) after Visalia netted five of them in 2015 (RF Todd Glaesman, RHP Zack Godley, RHP Blake Perry, OF Mitch Haniger and LHP Anthony Banda).
