Castillo Drives in Five in 10-4 Rout of Modesto

VISALIA, CA - Henry Castillo hit a home run and drove in five behind six strong innings from Justin Donatella in a 10-4 Rawhide (59-42, 13-18) win in game one of the series against Modesto (38-63, 12-19) at Rawhide ballpark on Monday night.

3B Henry Castillo began the game 0-for-2 with an RBI before driving in two with a single in the fifth inning and capping his night with a two-run big fly and five RBIs in the seventh that put the game out of reach for Visalia.

RHP Justin Donatella (3-1, 2.25) made his fourth start of the season and held Modesto at bay for six innings allowing only four hits and two runs (earned) while striking out seven in the win.

Visalia gave Donatella an early lead in the third when 2B Robelys Reyes walked, SS Galli Cribbs singled and LF Zach Nerrier reached on an infield single to load the bases. 1B Cody Regis followed with a two-run single and then Castillo hit into a fielder's choice that brought home the third run of the game.

Against Donatella, Modesto mustered single runs in the fourth and the fifth innings. CF Wes Rogers led off with a double in the fourth before 3B josh Fuentes singled him home to make it 3-1. In the fifth C Dom Nunez unloaded on a ball out to right field for a solo home run and a 3-2 ballgame.

Visalia kicked the door in in the fifth inning, scoring four times on a Castillo two-run single and a DH Grant Heyman home run over the right field wall, his fourth of the season with Visalia to make it a 7-2 lead.

Castellani pitched five innings and allowed seven hits, seven runs (earned), a walk and he struck out three in the loss.

The Rawhide added a run in the sixth off RHP Colin Welman after a Robelys Reyes double. Cribbs knocked him in to push the advantage to 8-2 before the Castillo blast in the eighth made it 10-2.

Modesto plated single runs in the eighth and ninth to make it a 10-4 final. RHP Drew Muren pitched two innings allowing a run but he struck out the side in both innings of work and RHP Jency Solis closed out the ballgame allowing a run on two hits.

Game two of the three game series features LHP Alex Young (0-2, 6.95) for Visalia. Modesto is sending RHP Yency Almonte (6-8, 3.80) to the hill in game two. Tomorrow is a Two-Fer-Tuesday at the ballpark so head to your local Chevron or Texaco station and grab a Two-for-one voucher to the game.
