(ALTOONA, PA)- Altoona Curve right-handed pitcher Brad Guy was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies organization Monday in a deal for future considerations.
The 27-year old native of Eureka, CA will report to the Eastern League's Reading Phillies (AA) upon joining the Phillies.
Guy, the Pirates' 27th round selection in the 1997 June draft out of NCAA Division II Cal State-Los Angeles, spent his first seven-plus seasons in the Bucs' minor league system, having spent all or parts of the last four seasons with Altoona. He leaves as the Curve's all-time leader in games pitched with 116 career outings.
This season, Guy posted a 1-2 record with a 5.79 ERA in eight outings (one start) for the Curve before being taken off of the club's active roster on May 3rd.
Guy pitched in every role throughout his four seasons in a Curve uniform, having served as a middle reliever, set-up man, closer and starter. As a starter, he owns the lowest-hit, nine-inning shutout in Curve franchise history--a three-hit shutout at Erie on Aug. 29, 2002.
