Bozeman Quiets Wings in Series Opener

FORT WORTH, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (26-25) where back in action after three consecutive rain delays,the Fort Worth Cats (33-20) defeated the Wings 3-1 Thursday night at LaGrave field.

In the top of the second inning Johnny Bowden scored on an Albert Carpen RBI double breaking a scoreless tie giving the Wings an early 1-0 lead.

Fort Worth answered back in the bottom of the second inning. Cody Bishop led off with a single, opening the door for Chris Ellison. Ellison scored Bishop from second tying the game at 1-1 even.

Ellison later scored on a RBI double from Mark Sobelwski giving the Cats their first lead of the game 2-1.

Fort Worth added to their lead with a solo home run off the bat of Ellison making it 3-1 in the bottom of the eighth.

The three runs where good enough as T.J Bozeman (4-0) quieted the Wings offense to just one run on six hits while fanning seven.

RGV's starter AJ Smouse (4-4) was charged with the loss tossing six and two thirds innings of work on six hits and two runs.

A double header is set for Friday with game one set for 6:05 p.m. The Wings send Trent Evins to the mound Evins will be making his first start for RGV.
