Waterloo, Iowa - Waterloo Black Hawks players will swap hockey skates for bowling shoes on Sunday, November 18th during the team's fourth annual "Battle the Black Hawks" event benefitting Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity at Maple Lanes on University Avenue in Waterloo.

"Battle the Black Hawks" provides the opportunity for fans of all ages to compete against the world-class athletes who take the ice at Young Arena. Participants challenge Waterloo players to compete in Maple Lanes' specialty Mad Game, Battle of the Lanes. Players from the Black Hawks will rotate after each round of the fast-moving game, and fans who win will be entered to receive prizes. Registration (including shoe rental) is $15 for adults or $10 for kids age 18 and under and begins this week.

"I would like to thank Maple Lanes for giving us a great venue to hold this event," said Black Hawks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Joe Greene. "If you haven't come out for this, it's a ton of fun. It is also a great cause; we are really excited to have another chance to help Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity."

Battle of the Lanes is one of several bowling-based interactive games available at Maple Lanes. Two side-by-side lanes are represented on scoring monitors as medieval castles; the object is to destroy the opposing team's castle with a rock catapulted from one screen to the other. The size of the rock to be fired is determined by the number of pins knocked down in the frame.

Fans can register at the Waterloo Black Hawks' offices in Young Arena, the Express Employment Professionals Fan Service Table on game nights, or at Maple Lanes on the morning of November 18th, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Maple Lanes is located at 2608 University Avenue in Waterloo.
