
Boston Breakers Call up Defender Samantha Lofton and Midfielder Chanel Johnson

HANOVER, Mass. (May 28, 2015) - The Boston Breakers announced today that defender Samantha Lofton and midfielder Chanel Johnson have been named to the roster as amateur call-ups.
Lofton was selected by the Breakers in the third round (20th overall) in the 2015 NWSL College Draft. A 2014 First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association honoree at James Madison University, Lofton started 74 of the 80 games she appeared in for the Dukes, finishing with six goals and 12 assists.
During the 2015 NWSL preseason, the Lock Haven, Pa. native registered one assist for the Breakers. It came on March 25, 2015, in a 5-0 win over the Jamaican Women's National Team. Lofton, 23, played in all four of Boston's preseason games.
Johnson was a non-roster invitee this preseason for the Breakers. The 22-year-old from New London, Conn. appeared in all four preseason matches for the Breakers. At the University of Hartford, Johnson scored 21 goals and tallied 10 assists in 75 games played.
A two-time America East Player of the Year at Hartford, Johnson was named to the First Team All-Conference after leading the Hawks and the America East Conference with 12 goals and 27 points in 2014.
Both Johnson and Lofton have been playing this spring for the Boston Breakers Reserves in the Women's Premier Soccer League, leading the team to a perfect 3-0 start. The Reserves have outscored their opponents, 17-3.
