Sky Blue FC News Release
Neptune, NJ, - Sky Blue FC has announced that it will "Go Pink" at its May 31st home game against the Houston Dash at Yurcak Field at the campus of Rutgers University. In support of Meridian Health's Paint the Town Pink campaign, Sky Blue FC players will wear custom pink jerseys and encourage their fans to join them by sporting pink at the game.
"We're all very excited to support this wonderful community event again this year," said Sky Blue FC President and General Manager. "By going pink at the game, we hope to further Paint the Town Pink's mission to raise awareness for the importance of annual mammography."
Paint the Town Pink is a community-wide effort presented by Meridian Health that has expanded across three counties and 41 towns over the past eight years. Because early detection is a woman's best defense against breast cancer our goal is to encourage women in our community, aged 40 and older, to have their annual mammogram. This year, nearly 1,100 businesses and community partners have Pinked It Forward in unique and creative ways- including town events, pink promotions, and very pink window displays- to remind women in our community to get this important preventative care.
"This partnership allows Meridian Health to educate girls about the importance of taking care of themselves beginning at a young age, which can transition into adulthood," said Denise Johnson Miller, M.D., director of Breast Surgery at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and part of Meridian Cancer Care. "It is wonderful to see the Sky Blue players support the mission of Paint the Town Pink, truly encouraging women of all ages to put their health at the top of their to do list."
This year, Meridian Health has asked community members, businesses, and other pink partners to "pinky promise" for annual mammography and women's health. In addition, Sky Blue has pinky promised to support the Paint the Town Pink mission, sporting pink jerseys to encourage women to get their annual mammogram and take care of their health. This is a chance to watch world class soccer while supporting an important cause. To purchase tickets to this game, visit tickets.skybluefc.com or call 888-723-2849.
