Boston Blazers News Release

BOSTON (January 30, 2010) - Dan Dawson and Daryl Veltman each scored four times and the Boston Blazers never trailed in an edgy 11-9 victory against the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday at the TD Garden. The Blazers push their record to 2-3 with the win; Philadelphia falls to 1-3.

Dawson put away the game's first goal after just 49 seconds, and Anthony Cosmo kept the Wings off the board until the final minute of the first quarter, when Kyle Wailes broke through for Philadelphia. Dawson added two more within thirty seconds in the second quarter and Boston went into the half leading 7-5.

A scrappy second half was marked by 45 total penalty minutes dealt out for scuffles at both ends of the floor, and the Blazers continued to tangle with the Philadelphia offense, holding them to just four scores in the second half. Dawson added his fourth in the third quarter and Veltman netted the team's final three goals, capping the victory with 52 seconds remaining on an assist from rookie Matt Abbott.

Cosmo made 38 saves in holding the Wings to a single-digit total. Brandon Miller stopped 30 in net for Philadelphia.

The Blazers return to the Garden next weekend for a February 6th matchup with the Rochester Knighthawks.
