THE STAKES: Things were supposed to get better for the Battle Wings after their tough, early schedule, but Columbus slapped consecutive losses on Bossier-Shreveport. Five additions have been made to the Battle Wings' lineup to help break the losing streak.

THE SERIES: Memphis owns the series so far with wins the last three times the teams met. The Battle Wings won 44-25 in the teams' initial meeting in May of 2001; Memphis 61-51 in April of '02; Bossier, 67-61, in May "02; Memphis 62-35 and 56-35 in May and June of '03 respectively. Memphis handed the Battle Wings their worst loss in franchise history 69-29 in April of this year.

HEAD COACHES: First-year Battle Wings head coach Keith Barefield's resume includes 19 years in the field, 10 as head coach at Evangel University in Springfield, MO where he compiled a 66-33-2 record. He coached 48 All-Americans before moving to San Antonio's Cornerstone Christian School to begin the football program there. While at Cornerstone, Barefield compiled a 23-2 record in two years at the helm including the 2002 Texas state championship.
Just recently, Barefield has been named the offensive coordinator at national prep power Evangel Christian in Shreveport (1999 National Champions).

Memphis: .Danton Barto was a star at the University of Memphis football team where he still holds the record for career tackles (473). He played professionally in the Canadian Football League and Arena 1. This is his third year to be head coach for the Xplorers.



SERIES NOTABLES: Memphis has won the last three meetings against the Battle Wings scoring 62, 56 and 69 in consecutive contests while allowing a total of 54.

MILESTONES: This will be the seventh meeting between the two teams.

DROPBACK: The Battle Wings dropped their fourth game in a row last week, losing to Columbus 51-41.

FORWARD MOTION: Bossier-Shreveport travels to Laredo where there could still be some bad blood between the two cities since Laredo defeated Bossier-Shreveport's CHL hockey team on a questionable call for the league championship earlier this year in a 7-game showdown.
