Colorado Eagles News Release

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Former Colorado Eagles player Les Borsheim, who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on June 1 in Weld County, was transferred to the world-renowned Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in Denver this morning. After being air-lifted to a Greeley hospital and undergoing surgery to stabilize his neck immediately following the accident, Borsheim has spent the past two months re-gaining small movements and building the strength and endurance necessary to gain entry into Craig.

Craig's Web site describes the hospital as, "...a non-profit, freestanding hospital that has been rated every year in the Top Ten Rehabilitation Hospitals by US News and World Report since the ratings began eighteen years ago." Craig became just the second rehab hospital in the U.S. to be awarded Magnet recognition status by the Magnet Recognition Program® of the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2005. And in 2007 alone, patients came to Craig from 48 different states and several foreign countries to take advantage of the hospital's expertise, experience, depth of resources and caring environment.

The hospital's Web site goes on to mention that, "Patients rehabilitated at Craig achieve higher levels of return-to-home, independence, and return-to-school or work because our healthcare approach addresses the whole person in all aspects of life."

Support for Borsheim has come from across the continent, and has been described by his family as ‘overwhelming.' It has been centered in Northern Colorado and Oklahoma City - the two regions Borsheim called home while playing in the CHL. Former teammate, and Captain of the Oklahoma City Blazers, Tyler Fleck has created a Web site (www.TeamBorsheim.com) where well-wishers can go to leave comments, get updates on Borsheim and even donate money toward his recovery through several different avenues (pure donations or through the purchase of t-shirts, photos and auction items). Several other hockey and non-hockey organizations have lent their support through those methods.

In addition to linking their Web site (www.coloradoeagles.com) to TeamBorsheim, the Eagles are currently holding auctions through their site to help raise money for Borsheim. Several of the high-end items up for bid - some of which were donated by other CHL teams as well - are from current and former NHL stars.

Moreover, the Eagles are planning a charity golf tournament to help raise money for Borsheim. The tournament will be held on September 5 at the Pelican Lakes Golf and Country Club in Windsor's Water Valley. More details will be released soon.
