Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage have signed left winger Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn and defenseman Jarred Mohr. The team now has nine players under contract for the upcoming 2008-09 Central Hockey League season.
Following a major junior career in the Ontario Hockey League that included an OHL Championship with the Guelph Storm in 2003-04, Versteeg-Lytwyn turned pro and spent two seasons with the Kalamazoo Wings in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Only 19 when he first suited up for the K-Wings, the Toronto native was the youngest player in the then-United Hockey League during his rookie campaign. Versteeg-Lytwyn appeared in 141 career games with Kalamazoo, recording 46 points (24g-22a) and 144 penalty minutes.
Mohr is a third-year d-man who also played last season for the K-Wings. After spending his rookie campaign in the ECHL, he posted 12 points (1g-11a) and 32 penalty minutes in just 41 games with Kalamazoo last year.
"Mark and Jarred are young guys but each has two pro seasons under their belt which should really help them coming into our situation," said Rage Head Coach and General Manager Tracy Egeland. "They both have good skills and a lot of upside."
