(Rapid City, SD) - Despite meeting a total of 34 times over the past three seasons, Friday marked the first ever postseason matchup between the Rapid City Rush and Colorado Eagles. In game #1 of thebest-of-7 Turner Conference Finals, the Rush came out on top with a 3-1 victory at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Goaltenders Tim Boron and Kyle Jones combined for 60 saves on the night, but it was Boron who came away with his fourth win of the 2011 playoffs. The teams will meet in game #2 tomorrow at 7:05pm at the RPCC. Tickets are still available.

Coming into the game, the Rush boasted the #1 powerplay in the 2011 playoffs, converting at nearly 27%. The unit was able to capitalize on the first chance of the game, netting a tally at the 13:52 mark. Vladimir Hartinger's rink-wide pass to Les Reaney at the right faceoff dot, allowed the center to snap a shot just under the cross-bar for his team leading seventh of the postseason.

The Rush doubled the lead in the middle period, getting secondary scoring from Josh Beaulieu at the 5:33 mark. Jesse Schultz swept a pass to the goal mouth that tipped off of Reaney and right to Beaulieu who tapped it into the open net.

Just 4:08 into the final frame, the Eagles powerplay responded, cutting the lead in half. Adam Chorneyko's blast from the top of the right circle was tipped home by Steve Haddon for his 5th of the playoffs. With a tie within reach, the Eagles pulled Jones for the extra attacker, but the gamble did not pay off as Colt King iced the 3-1 win with an empty-net goal.

Les Reaney led all skaters and had a hand in each goal with three points (1g,2a).

At the end of 60 minutes, the Rush held a 41-23 shot advantage.

Tim Boron is now 13-3 for the Rush this season while Kyle Jones now moves to 1-2 in the postseason.

The Rush powerplay has now scored a goal in twelve straight games.
