Boron Records Rapid City's First-Ever Playoff Shutout

(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush opened up their 2013 Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Playoffs bid on Friday night in game one of a best-of-seven series against the Missouri Mavericks. Prior to the game, Rapid City fans were honored with the unveiling of the 'Best Fans in the CHL 2012-13' banner, and the celebration would continue as goaltender Tim Boron led the Rush to a 3-0 triumph. Boron denied 31 shots for the first ever playoff shutout in Rush history, and the 4th of his postseason career. The Rush are back in action tomorrow night, March 30th, in game two against the Missouri Mavericks. Tickets are available at gotmine.com or by calling 716-7825.

Despite being out-shot 12-8 in the first period the Rush took the first lead of the night as Winston Day Chief would drive home his first career playoff point at 12:41 off a centering pass from Jared Brown.

Dan Gendur doubled the Rush lead in the waning moments of the second period, capitalizing from the low slot off another sharp pass from Brown. Jesse Schultz would also be credited with an assist, extending his point streak now to fifteen games by second intermission.

The third period would be all defense with Tim Boron turning away all Missouri chances and Scott Wray potting an empty net goal with just 16.9 seconds remaining lifting the Rush to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Missouri Mavericks. Other Rush News:
