
Cutthroats Fall Short in Game Two, 4-2

ALLEN, Tex. - The Denver Cutthroats closed the deficit to 3-2 with a power play and the extra attacker at their disposal in the final minute of the third, but an empty-net goal by the Allen Americans in the closing seconds cemented the 4-2 final on Friday in front of 3,842 at the Allen Event Center in game two of the Presidents' Cup Opening Round.
Trevor Ludwig scored the shorthanded, empty-net goal for the Americans.
The Cutthroats nearly erased a 3-0 deficit in the third as Jamie MacQueen scored from the slot on a delayed penalty at 10:01 and Brad Smyth added an extra-attacker goal with 54 seconds remaining.
Allen built their lead with a second period goal by Justin Kirsch and third period tallies from Todd Robinson and Brian McMillin.
Kieran Millan suffered the loss for Denver stopping 22-of-25 and Aaron Dell earned the win with a 25-save night.
The Cutthroats finished 0-for-10 on the power play while the Americans finish 0-for-6.
The series now shifts to the Mile High City where the Cutthroats and Americans will square off in game three on Easter Sunday. Puck drop is set for 4:05 PM MST.
