Asheville Tourists News Release
ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods 5-2 on Tuesday night. Both teams played a solid game in all three phases; however, the Hot Rods were able to push a few runs across during the middle stages of the game and hold on late.
Aaron Brown worked five innings for the Tourists and the right-hander did not allow a run over his first three. In the fourth, Bowling Green took a 1-0 lead on a two-out RBI double. The Hot Rods scored one more in the fifth thanks to a solo Home Run.
Asheville's Tim Borden II delivered a leadoff Home Run in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Tourists on the scoreboard. Borden has homered in three consecutive games.
Bowling Green answered with a two-out RBI infield hit in the sixth and plated two more in the seventh to run their lead up to 5-1. Asheville's ninth inning rally produced one run but a groundout to third ended the threat.
Rhett Kouba worked four innings in relief and retired the final seven batters he faced. Cristian Gonzalez was the lone Tourists player to record multiple base hits. Gonzalez finished 2-for-4.
Asheville and bowling Green will play a double-header on Wednesday with Game One set to begin at 5:05pm. Both games are scheduled for seven innings.
