BATHURST - Callum Booth turned aside 34 shots, including 19 in the second period, leading the Saint John Sea Dogs to their eighth consecutive win, a 3-2 triumph over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan Wednesday at the KC Irving Regional Centre.

Jakub Zboril posted the game-winning goal and added an assist for Saint John (34-12-3-1) while Simon Bourque and Spencer Smallman also scored.

Mathieu Joseph earned an assist to extend his league-high and team-record points streak to 27 games.

Julien Gauthier also picked up a helper for the one hundredth assist in the QMJHL. He has 199 career points.

Jeffrey Viel and Daniil Miromanov found the net for Acadie-Bathurst (27-20-3-2).

The Sea Dogs struck on a power play nearly five minutes into the first period.

Joe Veleno took a pass at the top of the right circle, and then found Bourque pinching in on the left side. The Montreal Canadiens' prospect rifled a quick wrist shot past a sprawling Anthony Dumont-Bouchard in the Titan goal.

Acadie-Bathurst evened the score on a two-man advantage when a bouncing puck near the goal made its way into the crease and Viel batted it into an open cage.

But Saint John regained the lead in the final minute of the first on another power play.

Matthew Highmore's slap shot from the high slot was stopped, and the rebound bounced to the left wing side of the goal. Smallman pounced on it and steered the puck home.

There was no scoring in the second period.

Sea Dogs goalie Callum Booth stood tall with 19 saves in the middle frame. His best came late in the period when Titan forward Jordan Maher took a pass in stride for a short breakaway from the blueline. He attempted a deke, but Booth dragged his left leg and kept the puck out of the goal.

Zboril gave the Sea Dogs a two-goal lead 29 seconds into the third period.

The Czech blueliner had just returned to the ice after serving a penalty when he led a 3-on-1 into the Titan zone. After leaving the puck for Joseph, he moved into the slot, took a pass and ripped a wrist shot past Dumont-Bouchard's blocker.

Miromanov responded two minutes later when he was sprung in the slot for a short breakaway and slipped a backhander past the blocker of Booth.

Acadie-Bathurst pulled its goalie for an extra skater with under a minute remaining, but could not tie the game.

Booth was named second star in the win while Dumont-Bouchard snagged third star with 29 saves in a losing cause.

Titan forward Rodrigo Abols was named first star in front of 1,794 fans in attendance.
