
Booras, Ludzik earn awards

BLOOMINGON, Ill. - Jon Booras and goaltender Ryan Ludzik of the Bloomington PrairieThunder received post-season honors from the International Hockey League, it was announced Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Booras was one of three forwards named to the IHL's all-star team, while the 20-year-old Ludzik was selected to the league's all-rookie team as a goaltender.
Booras, the PrairieThunder team captain who received Most Valuable Player and Most Points awards at the squad banquet Tuesday, finished second in the league in scoring (100 points); third in goals scored (40) and assists (60).
The 26-year-old Billings, Mont., native was second in power play goals (15) and first in shots taken (313). He was named the Player of the Week in the IHL on four occasions and the Player of the Month for January.
Booras, who set single-season and franchise records for goals scored, assists and points, scored at least one point in 59 of the 75 games he played, and on 29 occasions he had multiple-point contests.
In addition to the goals scored, assists, and points records, Booras set franchise marks for power play goals and power play assists (20). He is the PrairieThunder career leader in games played (222), points scored (197), goals scored (85) and assists (112).
He was joined on the first-team by Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher (goaltender), Guy Dupuis (defenseman) and P.C. Drouin (forward); and Muskegon's Darryl McArthur (defenseman) and Todd Robinson (forward).
Ludzik posted a 10-10-2-2 record in his first professional season with a .891 save percentage and a 3.81 goals against average in 27 games.
The Niagara Falls, Ontario native logged 1,416:56 minutes in goal and had 732 saves. He had a stretch of eight straight undefeated games, including a three-game winning streak, and earned IHL Goaltender of the Week three times.
Other members of the rookie team were forwards Rick Cleaver and Tommy Lange, along with defenseman Rob Jarvis of Kalamazoo; forward Rick Varone of Fort Wayne; and defenseman Derek Merlini of Port Huron.
The team's were selected by coaches, general managers and the media.
