Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI.--- As the qualifying teams get ready for the launching of the league's post-season showcase event, the Turner Cup Playoffs, the International Hockey League has unveiled its 2008-09 IHL First Team All-Stars for the 2008-09 recently-concluded regular season.
On this date, the IHL, in concert with the Lumberjacks, has announced that Muskegon center TODD ROBINSON and defenseman DARRYL MCARTHUR have been named to the 2008-09 International Hockey League's First All-Star Team as selected by league head coaches, general managers and members of the media.
The complete All-Star Team consists of three members of the two-time reigning Huber Trophy Champions, Fort Wayne Komets; namely goaltender Nick Boucher, defenseman Guy Dupuis and high-scoring left wing P.C. Drouin.
ROBINSON, 30, is in his 10th pro campaign and his eighth resplendent in the Muskegon coat of arms. The 5-8, 175lb center captured his second league scoring title and second league-wide MVP award earlier on the strength of a prolific 112-points on 23-goals with a league-best and all-time club record 89-assists. The native of Trail, B.C. also led the league with 32-PP/Assists and 34-multiple point games with the latter output produced, remarkably, in the span of 67-games. The Lumberjacks pre-eminent, prolific prince of points playmaking pivot averaged a prodigious 1.67 points per game and earned an excellent +12 rating.
Muskegon's second all-time leading scoring kingpin also registered 4-GWG, 7-FG, 2-SHG, 2-UAG and a 40% conversion rating in the OTSO at 2/5 with both of his OTSO strikes of the GWG variety. "T. Rob" adeptly and adroitly authored 6-multiple goal games while setting team standards of two 5-point masterpieces, four 4-assists performances, one 8-games' point streak, two 7-games' point streaks as well as one more of 6-games and three more of 5-games in length. As a testament to his complete, all-around enormous performance this season, he assembled three magnificent +4 games for the 'Jacks. The 2008-09 season marks the fifth time in his illustrious 10-year pro career and the fourth time in his 8-Muskegon seasons that "Tape-to-Tape Todd" has attained the prestigious century points' plateau and the sixth time that he has been honored with the league's season-ending All-Star berth.
MCARTHUR, 30, may be enjoying his best season yet in his distinguished 9-year pro career. The 6-0, 195lb left-hand shooting rearguard finished the regular phase ranked a lofty third in the league-wide scoring by defensemen with 47-points while gaining the royal and regal distinction of being the lone Lumberjack to play all 76-games this season. "Iron Man Mac" collected 47-points on 7-goals, 40-assists with 121-PIM. His brilliant +29 rating ranked #1 for the 'Jacks and #2 in the entire IHL.
The Oshawa, Ontario native accrued nine multi-game point streaks, himself, actually opening the season with an impressive 5-games scoring skein. On Muskegon's annual Awards Night last Saturday night in the regular season finale, McArthur took center stage in capturing three team awards; The Best Defenseman Award, The Most Inspirational Player Award and the Best Plus Player Award. All-Star teams are not unique for McArthur as he landed berths on the CHL (Central Hockey League) All-Star on several occasions.
