Booras Earns Award

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Bloomington PrairieThunder captain Jon Booras was named the Meijer's International Hockey League's Player of the Month for January, it was announced Tuesday by league officials.

Booras scored 21 points in 14 games on seven goals and 14 assists with a plus 7 rating. He had one power play goal and six power play assists, along with one short-handed goal, one short-handed assist and a game-winning goal.

During the month, the 27-year-old Booras had a seven-game consecutive streak of assists and finished with 13 during that span. He scored his first professional hat trick on Jan. 19 in a victory over Quad City and ended with four points in the game.

The Billings (Montana) native is tied for third in the league in scoring with a team-high 49 points on 17 goals and 32 assists in 40 games. He is tied for second in the league in assists; third in power play assists and fourth in shots with 144.

Booras has produced 15 multi-point games to lead the team. He has eight games with two points; six with three points; and one with four points. He also leads the team with a plus 12 rating from his center position and two short-handed goals and assists. There's only been 15 times that Booras has failed to score in a game this season.

Booras, one of only two players to score 100 points in the league last season, was a member of the all-IHL team and earned the Player of the Week from the league last week.
