
Booras Takes Meijer IHL Monthly Honors For January

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Tuesday that Bloomington center Jon Booras has been named the Meijer IHL Player of the Month, Port Huron left wing Mickael Bedard has been named the Meijer IHL Rookie of the Month and Fort Wayne goaltender Nick Boucher has been named the Meijer IHL Goaltender of the Month for the month of January.
Booras finished the month of January with 21 points (7 goals, 14 assists) and a plus-seven rating in 14 games played. He scored points in 10 of the 14 contests, with seven of those being multi-point games. Booras recorded his first hat trick of the season in the 7-3 win over Quad City on January 19th . The hat trick was the second for the PrairieThunder this season and the fifth overall in their franchise history. He recently had his seven-game point streak snapped this past Sunday. During the streak, Booras recorded three goals and dished out 13 assists (16 points). The 27-year-old Billings, Montana native currently leads the PrairieThunder in scoring with 49 points (17 goals, 32 assists). His 49 points rank him third in the IHL in scoring and he is also tied for second in assists (32).
Other players nominated for the Meijer IHL Player of the Month include: Dayton forward John Snowden, Flint right wing John Ronan, Fort Wayne center Colin Chaulk, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard, Port Huron forward Derek Patrosso and Quad City right wing Chris Lipsett.
