
Boomers Fall in Homestand Opener

SCHAUMBURG, IL - The Schaumburg Boomers opened a six-game homestand by dropping an 8-3 decision at the hands of the Windy City ThunderBolts on Friday night.
Payton Robertson opened the scoring for Windy City with a three-run homer in the top of the third. Windy City added three more in the fourth to lead 6-0. The Boomers slowly chipped away with single runs in three consecutive frames. Nick Oddo doubled home a run in the fourth. Brett Milazzo and Dusty Stroup tallied back-to-back singles to begin the fifth before a groundout from Matt McGarry drove home a run. Christian Kuzemka plated Clint Hardy with a single in the sixth for the final run. Windy City extended the lead with single runs in the seventh and eighth to account for the final.
Andrew Dean matched a season high by throwing seven innings but suffered the loss, striking out five. Nate Thomas finished out the game by working the final two frames and notching three strikeouts. Oddo posted two doubles for the Boomers, who finished with eight in the game.
The Boomers (34-29) continue the action-packed homestand on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans will receive a replica jersey courtesy of Wintrust Community Banks. The contest will also feature postgame fireworks. Schaumburg has not announced a starter while Windy City will send RHP Logan Wiley (4-1, 2.27).
